Strengthening Policy Voices in Sabah

ASLI was pleased to co-organise a two-day Policy Writing Workshop with the Jeffrey Cheah Institute on Southeast Asia (JCI) for researchers at the Institute for Development Studies (IDS) Sabah in Kota Kinabalu.

The workshop featured dynamic sessions, with Professor Shakila Yacob guiding participants in writing public policy grounded in rigorous research and Mr. Norman Goh sharing valuable insights on communicating policy through media and public narratives.

ASLI CEO Danial Rahman conducted sessions focused on bridging policy gaps, navigating institutional realities, and shaping people-centered narratives.

Together, the sessions provided participants with practical tools to write with greater clarity and impact—equipping them to communicate policy more effectively in today’s dynamic policy landscape.

Thank you to IDS Sabah for your warm welcome and partnership. We look forward to future collaborations that continue to empower local voices in policy development.
