How Boards Must Evolve in an AI-Driven World

ASLI CEO Danial Rahman moderated a forum titled From Oversight to Foresight: The Board’s Role in Guiding Strategy, Governance and Value Creation in an AI-Driven World, which examined how boards must move beyond their traditional oversight function to embrace strategic foresight as artificial intelligence reshapes governance, decision-making and long-term value creation.

The discussion explored how AI is transforming corporate governance, boardroom leadership, and organisational resilience. As technological disruption accelerates, boards are increasingly expected to anticipate emerging risks, steer strategic transformation and foster sustainable value creation while maintaining strong governance and accountability.

A key theme throughout the session was that while AI will fundamentally reshape business models and governance practices, effective leadership will continue to depend on human judgement, ethical stewardship and the ability to balance innovation with responsible decision-making.

We thank FIDE Forum and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Malaysia for convening this important conversation on the future of board leadership in the age of AI.
