
Ceasefire Under ASEAN Watch
Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to allow ASEAN observer teams, coordinated by Malaysia, to monitor a fragile ceasefire along their disputed border after clashes left dozens dead and over 300,000 displaced.
The agreement was reached during the General Border Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur, attended by senior defence officials from both nations and representatives from ASEAN’s monitoring team.
ASLI CEO Danial Rahman, underscored ASEAN’s critical role in brokering and sustaining the truce, calling it a test of the bloc’s ability to resolve intra-regional conflicts.
