What’s Really Happening in the Middle East?

In the latest edition of ASLI’s Diplomatic Dynamics Series, we had the honour of hosting Professor Raihan Ismail, H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at the University of Oxford, for a timely and thought-provoking conversation on the complexities shaping the Middle East today.

Against the backdrop of ongoing regional tensions, Professor Raihan unpacked the intersections of faith, political authority, and conflict, offering nuanced insights into the historical and ideological forces that continue to influence developments across the region. The session also explored how global powers engage with the Middle East, and what this means for diplomacy, stability, and the future of international relations.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this insightful session.
