PNB Scholar Series: Malaysia’s Bureaucracy; It’s Working, Challenges and Potentials
ASLI CEO had the privilege of being the guest speaker for the 4th Scholar Series talk organised by Permodalan Nasional Berhad’s Economics Department. Held at Merdeka 118 tower, the talk was joined by PNB staff members and was hosted by Mohammad Bazli Che Rozenan, the Head of FX, Rates and Commodities Research at PNB.
In the session titled Malaysia’s Bureaucracy; It’s Working, Challenges and Potentials, the speakers explored the reality behind Malaysia’s bureaucracy — from challenges that stem from gaps in perspective, to miscommunication especially among underrepresented communities and the age-old issue of complex procedures.
With the rise of conversations about reform, more young people are becoming politically aware, and more leaders are beginning to understand the importance of local voices and bottom-up decision-making. The session concluded with deep reflection on what it means to rebuild a bureaucracy that listens, adapts, and serves the rakyat — not just the powerful.
A big thank you to PNB’s Economics Department for the invitation and for hosting this eye-opening Scholar Series.
