SEILS #9 | Conversation with Pinky Lilani CBE DL, Founder and Chair, Women of the Future Programme

We were delighted to welcome Pinky Lilani CBE DL for the ninth edition of the Sunway Education Inclusive Leadership Series (SEILS), co-hosted by Sunway Education, the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI), and Sunway University. The conversation, moderated by Professor Dato’ Elizabeth Lee, Group CEO of Sunway Education, explored the theme “Some Kind of Wonderful—Coriander, Kindness & Courage.”

With her signature warmth and wit, Pinky shared her remarkable journey, from authoring cookbooks that celebrate spice and identity, to founding the globally impactful Women of the Future Programme. Her reflections on food, family, and finding her voice reminded us that leadership can grow from the most personal of places.

At the heart of Pinky’s philosophy is kindness, not as a soft skill, but as a transformative force in leadership, capable of building trust, unlocking courage, and shaping inclusive communities. She also highlighted how small acts of bravery can ripple outward, sparking generational change and reimagining who gets to lead.

Through stories of women she’s met across Southeast Asia, Pinky reaffirmed the universal power of values-based leadership. She encouraged aspiring changemakers to honour their identities, lead with purpose, and never underestimate their ability to inspire, even when they feel out of place.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this heartening and unforgettable session. We look forward to seeing you at the next SEILS conversation.
