However, this projected growth may be dampened by the rise of new COVID-19 variants, supply disruptions, and limited fiscal space. Rising vulnerabilities both at household and firm levels pose concerns to the country’s recovery path. Uncertainties abound for the Malaysian economy in 2022. Germany's 2021 Federal Election ended the 16-year dominance of centre-right Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU), officially starting the post-Merkel era. The leading two parties, SPD and CDU/CSU. are now negotiating with two smaller parties, the pro-environment Green and the pro-market Free Democratic Party (FDP) to form the new government. For this election, how do the tides change and what trends and endeavours explain such change? What were the strategy debates that led to the positioning of German parties- and what can we learn from this?

SDG Webinar - Malaysia’s Sustainable Development: The Decade for Action

On July 1st, 2020, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) launched the Sustainable Development Report 2020. While Malaysia recorded modest improvements in its ranking from 66th position in 2019 to 60th in 2020 out of 166 countries, its main challenges remain. This virtual event will convene thought leaders on the various aspects of Malaysia’s sustainable development journey who will offer insights on areas of opportunity, imperative action and challenges in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
