Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid


Tun Ahmad Sarji spent well over three decades in the civil service. In February 1990, he was made the Chief Secretary to the Government, the pinnacle of the Malaysian civil service.

A month after his retirement in 1996, he was made chairman of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), a post that has led to seats on the boards of directors of some of Malaysia’s largest companies. At an age when people retire from their golden years, Ahmad Sarji was still branching out into numerous positions of trust, apart from being Chairman of PNB he was the President of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management, founding chairman of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM), Malaysian Lawn Bowls Federation President and Professional Golf of 
Malaysia Chairman.
