ASLI Analyst Abqari Annuar unpacked how trade disruptions translate into real, lived economic pressures, underscoring that the crisis extends far beyond rising fuel costs. He highlighted its cascading impact on everyday essentials — particularly food — noting that Malaysia imports over 60% of its total food supply annually, thereby amplifying vulnerabilities around food security and exposing households to sustained price pressures.
