The 11th ASEAN Leadership Forum

“The Road Towards 2015 – Community Building Towards Regional Prosperity, Resilience and Peace

11th and 12th May 2014 | Myanmar International Convention Centre, Nay Pyi Taw

The ASEAN Leadership Forum (ALF) is an annual high powered Forum held alongside the April / May Summit of ASEAN Leaders.

The ALF has been held in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Singapore, Phnom Penh over the years and will convene in May this year in Myanmar, in conjunction with Myanmar's chairmanship of ASEAN and held just after the May Summit of ASEAN Leaders in Myanmar.

The ALF has been recognised as an important regional event bringing together Government, Business and Thought Leaders to discuss the critical issues and challenges facing ASEAN. The ALF provides an apt and timely platform for Leaders from Governments of ASEAN Member states together with Business and Academic Leaders to share valuable thoughts on the future direction of ASEAN and where it is headed. It also provides a timely opportunity for participants to feel the pulse of ASEAN and the rhythm of development in ASEAN particularly in ASEAN community building.

This year is even more critical for ASEAN as it is the penultimate year for the actualisation of the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015, as well as the building of new regional architecture such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement. Where will RCEP and TPPA leave ASEAN? Can ASEAN remain in the driving seat with these new trading agreements?

At the same time with China, Japan, EU and other dialogue partners of ASEAN wanting to deepen relationship with ASEAN, the prospects for ASEAN continue to be bright and the regional economic outlook looks robust. Yet ASEAN faces many issues and threats including non traditional security threats that need to be looked into. ASEAN connectivity is another key area to address and the perspectives of the younger generation on the future of ASEAN community building needs to be also considered. Vast business opportunity in Myanmar and the ASEAN countries will also be discussed at the 11th ASEAN Leadership Forum.

The ASEAN Leadership Forum provides a timely platform for the sharing of views and for senior level interchanges on the future of ASEAN asks what the region will look like going forward.

It is a must attend event and a highly relevant programme for Business Leaders, top Executives and Civil Society and Academic Leaders to join Government Leaders to deliberate on the future of ASEAN and what leadership challenges ASEAN needs to address.

It is a must come to Forum to have questions on ASEAN answered and debated.

Past Keynote speakers include the Prime Ministers of Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vice President of Indonesia, as well as Senior Ministers and corporate CEOs from the region.
